Background

Since its incorporation on May 1993, Petromarketing has concentrated its efforts on providing consulting services to the oil industry.

In 1995, Petrobras announced its first deepwater discoveries. The Marlin, Roncador and Albacora fields indicated reserves of over three billion barrels of gas-associated oil. These findings signaled a promising scenario with new technological challenges that would arise as a direct consequence.

Petromarketing understands that globalization is an effective worldwide tool for balancing supply and demand to be generated by the heavy investments foreseen by Petrobras. Therefore, Petromarketing began contacts with international companies.

In 1997, the first business development agreements were maintained with Asian companies – namely Zheng Mao, Chinese manufacturer of cables for offshore use; and Usha Martin, an Indian top steel cable manufacturer in Asia for offshore applications. We are also proud to mention our contact with the American company Petrofac, which holds offshore hi-tech applied to oil and gas treatment.

After the conclusion of the construction of the Brazil-Bolivia gas pipeline in 1999 and the successive discoveries on the Brazilian offshore coast of associated gas fields, Petrobras and the Brazilian government pointed to major investments in gas distribution in the national territory. Demands for pipelines, compression stations, treatment plants and natural gas transfer stations would grow and should be met.

Petromarketing then signed, in 2003, an agreement with Universal Compression Inc., an American company specialized in providing gas compression services.

In 2007, a new business group, Exterran Energy Solutions LP, was announced in the United States as a result of the merger between Universal Compression Inc. and Hanover Compression Inc. Thus, the world’s largest company in providing compression and gas treatment services was created.

We also emphasize a diverse portfolio of many agreements with Petrobras, operating with the Gas & Energy, Exploration & Production and Supply offices.

Petromarketing enthusiastically keeps up with the present auctions in the Brazilian oil basins and the reheating of the oil, gas and energy market. With the anticipation of high investments to be made by new global players, we believe that the development of this sector will contribute to the resumption of economic growth in Brazil.
